PYREX Ice Bucket

Post by MDFraley »

Came across an ice bucket last weekend at a yard sale that had a Pyrex stamp on the glass insert. It has the Back Stamp (1950) As shown on the Pyrex Collector "Dating Pyrex Kitchenware" The insert is clear and appears to have some sort of adhesive to keep it inside the bucket. It is 6 1/2" Diameter X 5 1/4" deep.
The bucket was made by F.B. Rogers Silver Co #110 (See attached photo's). Is it assumed that Pyrex sent these clear glass pieces to a third party such as F.B. Rogers for assembly and sales? Didn't pay a lot for this piece (three dollars) because of the shape of the silver and the lid hinge needs to be re soldiered to the bucket. Did an eBay search and found several exactly the same as the one I purchased for $200 to $300 + but those were asking prices.
Any comments welcome.

I've seen a photo of the backstamp but can't make out a model number on it. Is there one?

Looks like 2 Qt at top of the PYREX logo and just a guess at the bottom where it looks like possibly B-9. Looks like the liner was maybe a thin type cork possibly spray painted silver with a adhesive to keep it in place. Think time with cold ice inside caused the cork liner to create a mold/fungus to grow between the glass and liner. From what I have researched probably manufactured around the early fifties.
Anyway....it was just a spur of the moment buy when I spotted the PYREX glass inside. Thanks for any info.
