Meat platter

I set out today in search of the cradle for the Bluebird casserole but didn't find it. I did find this old meat platter for $2. I think it says #972 and it's a pretty old logo. It has a couple of tiny chips where one would expect a knife to hit while carving meat. I think a little emery board will smooth the edges nicely and make them barely noticeable. Any idea when it was made? It reminded me of the Griswold.

I can see on ebay that it is being called a #372, my eyes are getting weak.

I also picked up this little bowl for 50c. I thought it might be an unmarked opal but I really don't know? The extended lip seems unusual, it's pretty thick and it kind of has veins running through it like slag glass.

I found these just like it on ebay. Mine is the smallest in the set. I am still not sure whether they are Pyrex or Fireking.

I'm searching for info about the little bowl but I can't find any. The bottom says Pyrex to me but the rim says Fire King? What do you think Doug? Is this one going to remain a mystery?

Mystery solved. It's Hazel Atlas. Here is one with decoration on it.

I think it's cool that ladies had to collect these old Hazel Atlas bowls buying sour cream. I think they had an aluminum lid on them when you bought them from the grocery. A girl would need lots of sour cream to get the big one. It reminds me of my mom always buying the same brand of laundry soap because she needed to complete her set of dishes. :-) I have this set minus the gravy boat.

I think these are the type of lids that would come on the Hazel Atlas bowls. After some thought I imagine the milk man would have delivered these right to your door.
